Description: "The Southern Part of Port Orchard" is a detailed historical, nautical, and topographic chart produced in 1926 by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey (now part of NOAA). It maps the landmasses, waters, and early maritime infrastructure of the southern portion of Port Orchard and Sinclair Inlet in Washington state. Port Orchard was named, "On May 24, 1792 by Vancouver after H.M. Orchard, clerk of the Discovery, who, while walking on the beach had found that the supposed cove was really an extensive inlet" writes Lynn Middleton.
