Description: According to Lynn Middleton the Sinclair Inlet was, "named by the Wilkes Expedition group in 1841 after George T. Sinclair acting master in one of the crews." Aside from showing the Inlet this unique map also offers an unexpected glimpse into the size and shape of the navy shipyard in Bremerton during the 1920s. Other notable viewable items on the map are the city of Bremerton, the town of Charleston, the town of Manette, the city of Port Orchard, and a Soldier's House. In the years after this maps publication both the town of Charleston and Manette would be folded into the city of Bremerton. Eventually in 1930 the city of Bremerton and the towns people of Manette finished building the Manette Bridge which spans the Washington Narrows and made it easier for the towns to connect.
